Happy Nurses Week 2018! Time to give extra love to those in the nursing profession! This year, ANA (American Nurses Association) chose the theme: “Nurses: Inspire, Innovate, Influence” for National Nurses Week. For over a decade, nurses have been voted as the most honest and ethical profession, but many people don’t realize the extent of nurses’ impact in the healthcare industry. We hope to bring some awareness for all that nurses do!
This year we’ll be celebrating by hosting a photo contest! Share a pic that captures this year’s theme for a chance to win a $250 Visa gift card! Are you inspired by some sightseeing during your nursing assignment? Have you influenced another to seek a career in nursing? We want to know! Nurses Week originated in 1982 when President Reagan announced that May 6 would be a “National Recognition Day” for nurses. In 1990, ANA extended the day to a full week, beginning on the day President Reagan chose, May 6, and ending on May 12, which is Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Per the request of the National Student Nurses Association, ANA designated May 8 as National Student Nurses Day. While it’s important to take the time to appreciate nurses year round, we’re more than happy to send them extra love this week. We’re so thankful and filled with pride to work with nurses day to day.
