The Garden State
Destination: New Jersey
Welcome to Jersey (locals drop the ‘New’). If you’ve watched tv in the last 20 years, you’re probably familiar with the thick accents and loud personalities seen in Jersey Shore, The Sopranos, or Real Housewives of New Jersey. If you look past the televised stereotypes, you’ll find a state rich in lush nature and endless miles of warm beaches. It’s also a close neighbor to NYC, so you can enjoy all the perks in the Big Apple without having to pay as much. Or you can head west and be close to Philly. Talk about a great location!
In Jersey they know how to have a good time!
If you want to relax by the beach, Cape May is the place to go. Some of the most beautiful white sandy beaches can be found in Cape May and you can even go whale watching from May to December. Take a ride in a horse drawn carriage to take in the sights and view the stunning Victorian buildings. Fun tip! Did you know you can watch both the sun rise and set over the water?
Home to the Ivy League University, Princeton is a charming and picturesque city. Take a tour of the university campus or visit the (free) Art Museum for a cultural and intellectually packed day. Another great place to check out is the Terhune Orchards where you can pick your own fruits and vegetables. Make sure to try the wine and homemade apple cider donuts!
