Stunning South Dakota
Destination: South Dakota
South Dakota may be sparsely populated due to the Black Hills National Forest and prairies of unsettled land, but here you'll find the people are as nice as the views. Two monuments bring visitors from all over the world: Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial, a tribute to the storied Native American tribal leader. The largest and most populous city in South Dakota is Sioux Falls with a population of around 165,000. Other great cities where nurses often head are Rapid City, Pierre, Aberdeen, or Brookings.
The Mt. Rushmore State
South Dakota's largest city, Sioux Falls has plenty of attractions and sights for the travel nurse. You'll love Falls Park, Sioux Falls number one attraction. The 123-acre park has a stunning waterfall that drops an average of 7,400 gallons of water from 100 feet each second. In the winter months, locals flock to Great Bear Recreation Park for outdoor sports like skiing, and snowboarding.
Family-friendly Rapid City, will be your next favorite city while on assignment for 13 weeks. Independent Ale House with its 40 rotating taps will keep you entertained post-shift. Dinosaur Park and Storybook Island will provide entertainment for the entire family. Rapid City is also close proximity to Mt. Rushmore.
