Advanced Travel Nursing is thrilled to feature Ryan Langlois for our September Recruiter Spotlight. Ryan is the type of recruiter that really has your back. He empathizes with his nurses and genuinely joins them as they pursue their professional and personal dreams.
We love having him on our team and we are excited to have you get to know him!
What do you love about your job?
I love being a part of my nurses’ journeys. Whether I’m helping them find local travel contracts that will help pay off student loans or save up to buy a house, or true travel contracts that allow them to explore the country from coast to coast- I truly feel like I am a part of those adventures and milestones! It’s so rewarding to see the pictures and hear the stories from each of my travelers. I consider myself one of the lucky ones!
What makes you unique as a recruiter?
I do my best to be transparent with my travelers and make myself available outside of traditional business hours. Nurses have all sorts of different schedules and work in different time zones, so I make sure I’m there 7 days a week whenever they need me. I also have no tricks up my sleeves, no smoke and mirrors. I tell it how it is whether it’s the news you want to hear or not. Recruiters get a bad rep sometimes and I do everything to ensure my nurses never deal with any of those concerns.
What’s your favorite traveler story?
One of my first travelers met his girlfriend while he was traveling from state to state checking off places from his bucket list. After they got together, it became all about placing him near her home so he could drive over and visit her on his days off. This soon developed to the girlfriend traveling with him. Just recently he asked me to place him where he can make the absolute most money so he could save up to make the commitment of a lifetime to the girl of his dreams. I am so excited for him and honored to be a part of his story.
Do you have any advice for travelers?
It’s important to do your research on different companies and find the one that will best fit your needs as far as job availability and benefits. You also want to ensure that you find a recruiter at that company that will be honest with you and put your needs first.
How do you spend your time when you’re not recruiting?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Whether it’s going down to the beach with the surfboards, around the corner to the park with the kids, up the street to an NFL game (GO JAGS!), or out on the boat with some fishing poles, I enjoy being outdoors with the people I love.
